Father and son Part 2

June 10th, 2012 by
Eric Percival did the route in May, described his ride with his son and has followed this up with GPS tracking of their progress.
I put a few notes on our blog for clarity since we took a few small route variations – mostly deliberate but a couple accidental :-).
We missed a turn on the way through Portinscale on the way into Keswick (even after watching our video I still don’t know where it was :-)) and another on the way out.  We took a left at the A68 to get to Castleside and then continued from there along the Consett road the following morning instead of crossing the road and completing the Waskerley way.  In Sunderland we crossed the River Wear and followed what I think was the original route – or something close to it, which meant having to climb up to the main bridge over the river further on instead of sticking to route 7 and staying on the same side of the river.
