Your Trips

This is the section of the site where you can read other people’s C2C trip journals, articles etc which have been submitted to me for inclusion. We are looking forward to a bumper crop of accounts as 2011 looks like being a particularly busy year. Any photographs we use in the 2012 edition of the book will be rewarded with a free copy.

For more C2C trip journals, visit Earlier Trips and the Related Links page where you can browse many more online Trip Journals and other related sites.

Click here and tell us about your trip.

The editor writes:

Please feel free to send more details of your trips, plus pix.

In the meantime read crazy Rob Scott’s account of a non-stop C2C2C. We do not encourage such bravado, but I have to take my hat off (see his account, below).

I was on the 2nd day of the c2c from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. The first day went without any problems but on the 2nd day on the descent into Nenthead I soon started to realise my brakes were not working. I had noticed the signs on the approach so was taking precautions as soon as … [Read More]

From: Councill Robert Philipson I have a safety concern regarding a cattle grid on National Route 7 on the western approach to Allenheads in Northumberland. The cattle grid is in a poor state of repair and the county council has placed two metal plates across the grid. These move unevenly when any weight is put … [Read More]

Total climb?

August 8th, 2012 by Anonymous

Can any of you definitively say how many feet/metres are actually climbed on the route? I am a bit embarrassed to mention my figure as it is significantly higher than the recorded figure one of you has submitted. I have, at the lowest end, under 9,000 feet. At the highest end, 12,080 feet. But of … [Read More]

Father and son Part 2

June 10th, 2012 by Anonymous

Eric Percival did the route in May, described his ride with his son and has followed this up with GPS tracking of their progress. I put a few notes on our blog for clarity since we took a few small route variations – mostly deliberate but a couple accidental :-). We missed a turn … [Read More]

SANDS charity ride Hello I have never ridden a bike more than a mile before January this year, so I decided to do this challenge and raise money for the Stillbirth & neonatal deaths charity. Sadly I lost my grandson back in 2008 and want to raise funds.   Jack would have been 4 this … [Read More]

I plan to do the C2C Whitehaven to Tynemouth in 3 days, hoping to take in all the off-road options as per this website and the official Sustrans map, as I’ll be riding it on a mountain bike with hybrid tyres. Obviously this part has been written before the ride and will also write a … [Read More]
